Lake Land College Community Choir celebrates its tenth anniversary

Come celebrate the Lake Land College Community Choir’s tenth anniversary. The community is invited to attend this annual spring concert, Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m. in the Lake Land College Theatre.

The program will open with a medley of songs from the musical Fiddler on the Roof, featuring McKenna Parish, Charleston, as “fiddler.”  With the help of Christopher Mroczek, Charleston, clarinetist, the choir will jazz things up with an energetic arrangement of “When the Saints Go Marching In,” which will accompany setting poetry by Robert Louis Stephenson, Christopher Marlowe, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge to music.

Then it’s back to Broadway, with “Hey There,” “There Once Was a Man” and “Steam Heat,” all from the musical The Pajama Game. 

A reception will follow in Laker Point.

Under the direction of Nancy Caldwell, music instructor, the Community Choir is a mixture of voices including students and staff from Lake Land College as well as members of surrounding communities including Arthur, Casey, Charleston, Mattoon, Neoga and Sigel.  Ann Roedl of Effingham accompanies the choir.  The Community Choir was formed in January of 1998 and performs two annual concerts.

The concert is free and open to the public.
