Celebrate Women's History Month with Lake Land College

During Women’s History Month Lake Land College is honoring women's contributions to society.  There will be a variety of events going on throughout March, such as poster displays of influential women and their contributions to society and a Day of Beauty later in the month.

On Wednesday, March 3, LLC’s Diversity Education Committee will host a silent auction in the Theater with all funds given to HOPE of East Central Illinois. The college also works with HOPE to host the Clothesline Project, which will hang in the Student Center Building the entire month of March. On March 20, a “Fashion Forward” Clothing Day” will be held at Workforce Development. Students are collecting gently-used clothing for men, women and children to give away.

The Diversity Education Committee and the Student Activity Board will sponsor a presentation on Jane Addams’ Lincoln on Wednesday, March 10 in the theater at 11 a.m.  Addams is remembered for her acts of kindness directed toward people of low economic status.  Keynote speaker Janet Cornelius, an adjunct professor of history at Eastern Illinois University, will present a perspective on this woman who had such a profound impact on history.  The event is free, and the community is encouraged to attend.
